OpenPOWER talks a lot about the system being completely open. There is however always that one caveat where the BMC firmware is not open. Well that all changes with OpenBMC. The reference system for P9 will be based on this open source code so I want to get this in front of people.

The demo will show off the technology and simplicity of the firmware stack. People should leave the booth confident on how to integrate their existing products with the stack.
Chris Austen has spent is career in IBM with Power Firmware. He was responsible for creating the Hostboot code stack. Hostboot initializes the Processors and Memory subsystem of any openpower server and donated the code to OpenPower in July of 2014.
