Enabling the Power behind OpenPower – Introducing a New Class of OpenPOWER Platforms Targeted at Storage Rich Applications

Abstract

StackVelocity, an OpenPower consortium member since mid-2015 has been utilizing IBM reference platform to create a new server that is suited for a multitude of cloud and appliance markets. This presentation will introduce the audience to a server design that could be used for analytics applications or any other environment where a large storage pool is internal to the server. This system also leverages the Power processors full capabilities, including CAPI enabled I/O slots, enabling even greater system throughput. This system will be available in the market at the time of this presentation.

Jeff DiCorpo is responsible for Strategic Initiatives at StackVelocity. StackVelocity offers solutions and capabilities to support customers building and deploying next generation infrastructure for scale-out systems and datacenters. By leveraging Jabil Circuit’s global footprint and extensive experience in the Electronics Manufacturing Services industry, StackVelocity provides an end to end service offering with a hardware agnostic approach. Prior to Jabil, Jeff spent over 20 years at Hewlett-Packard where he was most recently a Distinguished Technologist within the HP StorageWorks Division. Jeff’s responsibilities included evaluating, assessing and developing strategic investment proposals related to new storage products, technologies and markets.  Over his career, Jeff has held management and engineering roles for product development related to hardware, systems and software disciplines.
